WELCOME

Join us for the KKC 15 Year Anniversary Planning Meeting July 10, 2008 at YouthLink.

Yes, food is good. In April we had another culinary arts workshop with a very special guest, Sue's mother Mary Jo.

In March we visited and collaborated on the Synergy Project, a interactive exhibition by artists Melanie VanHouten and Andrew Macguffie at the College of St. Catharine in St. Paul.

KKC youth and staff helped create symbols, images, text and phrases in response to the question "If you could make one simple change that might make a difference, what would it be?"

We brought our projections down to the Simpson Housing Homeless Memorial March to add some flavor and a glimmer of individuals impacted by homelessness. Our group interviewed people whom were marching and displayed portraits of youth from KKC.

We are taking our art to the streets!

We are currently uploading artwork from our current 2007 Artist In Residence program Guerrilla Cinema with Xavier Tavera.

You should also view Xavier's amazing artwork at his website.

KKC Will have an exhibition of selected youth artwork at PI Bar & Restaurant during the months of Dec. 2007 and Jan. 2008.

Opening reception will be Thursday Dec. 6th from 5 pm - 8 pm. Some great artwork will be for sale and all proceeds will go directly to youth artists. These would make very special holiday gifts for friends or family.

The Moxie Salon Great American Sleep Out & Hair Raising Event returns November 17 & 18, 2007. Please visit our MOXIE page for details about this fantastic fundraising event.

The First Unitarian Society of Minneapolis has joined with Frank Theatre to present a one night only reading of THE EXONERATED by Jessica Blank and Eric Jensen as a benefit for Oasis Crisis Intervention Center and Kulture Klub Collaborative. ...MORE

KKC has launched an exciting Artist In Residence with artist Peter Haakon Thompson. Working through self-portraiture, Thompson is engaging youth in photography workshops that explore intimate personal connections amidst the diverse landscapes of their lives. Homeless youth will partner to create photographic work that represents meaningful and emotional responses to places and spaces they occupy. The spaces our youth occupy are intrinsically emotional and historically charged due to the transient nature and the impact of homelessness. Youth will photograph, explore, journal and engage in dialogue about the lenses with which we see and share spaces in our lives.

More of Thompsons work can be viewed HERE.

We have received a amazing donation from two middle school students whom took it upon themselves to do a fundraiser for KKC! Please go HERE to read more about this project.

We have a really great article about Kulture Klub posted in the Downtown Journal for the week of May 1, 2006.

Be sure to check out the Star tribunes Lifestyle section on Dec. 19th for a great article about KKC!

Kulture Klub Collaborative

Kulture Klub brings dignity and respect to homeless youth and to artists, building value for and between these culturally neglected and separated populations, catalyzing new relationships between art and community.

Kulture Klub is a bridge for at-risk youth to move from isolation to expression, and for artists' voices to participate in creatively affecting community.
